Muesli is a common breakfast food throughout Europe. It originated in Switzerland and is a blend of grains, dried fruits and nuts. It is very healthy and extremely easy to make. Muesli can be found in health food or specialty food stores but can be expensive. Using items that you already have in your pantry, Muesli can be easy and easy to make.
For this recipe I used ingredients that I already had in my pantry. You can use an combination of grains, fruits, and nuts that you wish but here is what I used:
- Multi-Grain Hot Cereal Mix that contains oats, rye, wheat, and barley
- Oat Bran
- Ground Flax Seeds
- Sliced Almonds
- Shredded Coconut
Add ingredients in your desired ratios to a plastic storage container or jar. Once all items are in the jar shake to mix.
My favorite way to eat Muesli is with milk. I pour about half a cup out into a bowl and pour 1/2 cup of almond milk over it. When I wake up in the morning it is soft like oatmeal and requires no time to cook.
You can also have it over yogurt with fruit or heated up like oatmeal.
